As the Senior Management Accountant you will help to prepare the month end financial statements for the publishing divisions by ensuring that the Head of Financial Reporting and Group Financial Controller have all information they require, and by taking responsibility for producing monthly Profit and Loss accounts for some Publishing Divisions. Responsibilities Month End Reporting
• Preparation of month end Profit and Loss Accounts for publishing divisions, ensuring revenues and costs are accurately stated. Tasks include (but not limited to):
• Production of full profit and loss account (including overheads) for certain divisions
• Assisting finance team in all aspects of the preparation, including posting journals, running reports, posting monthly packs onto intranet
• Producing month end pack showing key financial analysis and KPIs for relevant publishing division
• Ensuring the General Ledger reconciles to the monthly management accounts by posting all relevant journals
• Performing month end and quarter end balance sheet reconciliations for all relevant accounts and providing detailed explanations for any variances
• Working closely with systems accountant to ensure that all reports are run on a timely basis Profit Share Calculations
• Prepare statements of earnings & costs on specific titles to enable payment to authors of appropriate profit share Year End Statutory Audit
• Assist where required in preparing both requested and ad-hoc information Budget
• Provide assistance and support where required during the annual budget process to enable the budget to be produced Forecast Review
• Review of forecast submitted by Commercial Finance team to check for accuracy and completeness Commercial Finance
• Work closely with the relevant Commercial Directors and Analyst to better understand actual and forecast data, providing assistance and support where required Skill Requirements Requirements Essential Qualifications
• Degree Experience
• Preparation of Management Accounts Skills / Competencies
• Exceptional Excel skills
• Effective planner/scheduler
• Willing to challenge the status quo Requirements Desirable Qualifications
• Part qualified CIMA/ACCA
• Degree in Business/Accountancy Experience
• Publishing/Media finance Skills / Competencies
• Knowledge of Hyperion an advantage
