IT / Technology Summer Intern or Year in Industry Are you looking for a Summer Internship/ Year in Industry role that is technically challenging? Technology is central to ensuring a profitable, well run insurance business and your work will support the success of a FTSE 100 company. Our Technology team work throughout the business- from Investments, Retirement, Insurance and Capital to Group Finance. If you are successful you will join one of the Technology teams in one of the following roles (Summer Intern: Transformation Analyst, Business Analyst, Java Software Developer, Tester, Innovation Analyst) or (Yii: Transformation Analyst, Innovation Analyst, Java Software Developer, Technical Analyst, Data Analyst, Infrastructure Analyst or Commercial Procurement). To give you a flavour of what our Developers and Infrastructure Analysts do: Java Software Developer Supporting the Senior/Lead Developer to handle the day to day troubleshooting, code writing and application developments Learn to write, build and test software using the Java programming language or alternative JVM programming languages Work as part of a software development team contributing to any software releases and working to timescales Be active in developer team meetings to keep colleagues informed and to create a forum for knowledge sharing Provide effective updates and communication by continuously collaborating with Senior Developers, Testers and Business users to support smooth delivery of development activities. Ensure all code/solutions developed comply with L&G standards and best practices Ensure all code/solutions developed have our customer at their core and align with L&G's commitment to Treating Customers Fairly Working with the feature development teams understanding how we deliver applications and services to end users; being involved in the process from idea (inception) to working software Infrastructure Analyst Working closely with other analysts on functional and non-functional requirements from design through to testing new features in non-production environments Having the opportunity to work with Product Owners, Developers, Site Reliability Engineers, Business Analysts, Architects and Automation Testers as part of the software delivery lifecycle You will ideally be studying a technology focussed degree or have an IT or Mathematics related A-Level. You must have a strong interest or passion for technology. However, we will also be looking for much more, including good communication, personal planning and organisation skills, plus the ability to work closely with others. You will need to show strong initiative in applying problem solving and analytical skills. Overall the successful candidate will be enthusiastic, inquisitive, adaptable and a good team player. The Summer Internships run from June to September, we can offer 6-12 weeks. You must be able to complete your internship in one block of time i.e. no more than 1 week break. or Year in Industry can run from September 2019 to August 2020.
