Summary The Risk function is responsible for effectively advising and challenging key stakeholders, challenging risks effectively and proactively, and adding value through providing enhanced business insights to ensure that risk is managed in line with the expectations of clients, shareholders and regulators, and to support the delivery of customers' long term needs. Operational Risk maintains the overall Risk Management framework, leads, coordinates and manages a range of risk management processes including overall risk reporting. The Risk Assurance Manager reports to the Head of Risk Assurance. The role sits in the Operational Risk function, supporting the Head of Risk Assurance to deliver the Risk Assurance Plan, and in so doing, supports the implementation of the Operational Risk Framework and Policies. The role works in close partnership with other stakeholders across the business to ensure a coordinated approach to monitoring effectiveness of control design and implementation Candidate Summary Detailed knowledge of risk assurance tools, techniques and industry best practice Detailed knowledge of UK financial services sector, including regulatory, governance and risk management rules and regulations Detailed knowledge of operational risk management methodologies and frameworks Working knowledge of products, systems, processes and distribution methods Awareness of internal and external developments with ability to identify and implement improvements to processes and policies in line with these Analytical thinking and a critical evaluator of information/issues Ability to challenge constructively, and to be pragmatic where appropriate Ability to work collaboratively across immediate team and broader Risk function whilst also being to work independently under own initiative Qualification Summary Significant experience in a risk management, assurance or audit environment essential Significant experience of developing and delivering assurance/deep dive/monitoring/audit assignments essential Experience of leading/managing others on assurance/monitoring/audit assignments desirable Significant experience of operational risk frameworks and processes essential Experience of senior management engagement essential Experience of influencing and negotiating at all levels of, and building strong relationships across diverse business areas essential Working knowledge of financial services regulatory and legislative frameworks desirable Some knowledge of life, pensions and investment products desirable Relevant professional qualification desirable (IRM, CISI, ACII, IIA, ACCA/CA/CIMA) Key Responsibilities To support the Head of Operational Risk Assurance in the delivery of the Risk Assurance Plan To manage and execute end-to-end operational risk assurance reviews/deep dives across all business areas and outsourced service providers as may be required To prepare, review and approve reports of assurance review findings and recommendations To work with the wider Operational Risk team to drive improvements and enhancements based on experience and assessment To manage contributions towards Risk Reporting for Senior Management, Committees and Boards as required Manage stakeholders effectively, and work collaboratively with other assurance functions (GwIA, Compliance Monitoring), as well as the first line of defense controls teams, to support the maintenance of a robust control framework A background in Compliance Monitoring, Audit, and Risk/Assurance Consultancy would be a good fit.
