Change Public Practice are working with an independent Chartered Accountancy firm in Glasgow City Centre to assist them in the growth of their leadership team as they are looking to appoint an Accounts Manager. This role will involve overseeing the accounts and cloud accounting team as well as preparing and reviewing of work and leading client engagements. This firm is emerging to be a true competitor in the mid-tier market in Glasgow and expanding rapidly in the wider UK regions. Responsibilities will include:
• Team management responsibilities including Accounting Assistants, Seniors and Supervisors
• Managing a busy and diverse portfolio ensuring a first class service is provided to all clients
• Take full ownership of your own client portfolio which will predominantly be made up of company accounts in addition to some associated traders and partnerships
• Ensuring all accounts produced fully comply with the latest relevant Accounting Standards
• Responsible for completion and submission of financial statements, business taxation and personal taxation for all clients within your portfolio
• Resolve more complex queries relating to the assignment directly with the client
• Review draft financial statements, business tax computations and personal tax returns prepared by the Accounts Assistants and Seniors and ensure adjustments required after review are completed
• Ensure VAT returns, bookkeeping and management accounts assignments deadlines are met
• Managing the workflow and staff development linked to your portfolio of clients
• Responsible for driving business development
• Liaising with the tax team in connection with personal tax matters
• Attend and contribute to client meetings as required by the Accounting Partner Requirements:
• You must hold a valid professional accountancy qualification i.e. ICAS / ICAEW / ACCA etc.
• You will have a minimum of 5 years' experience working within an accounts role in a similar public practice environment i.e. Big 4, Top 10, Mid-tier CA, Independent CA firm
• You must have previous experience of managing a team
• You must have review experience of financial statements for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
• Strong business development skills would be advantageous
• Strong client management skills would be highly desirable
