Job Purpose Our client is based in the West Midlands and operates within the hotel and leisure industry. Following years of continued growth and success they are looking to recruit an experienced and suitably qualified Financial Accountant. You will report to the Board of Directors, will oversee the finance team and will be responsible for all aspects of the Company's finance function. This is a new position which will develop over time to include the key duties and responsibilities below. Key Duties and Responsibilities - Establish and maintain strong financial systems and controls to ensure proper reporting of results on a timely basis. - Review existing financial systems and make recommendations on potential streamlining and efficiencies. - Create and implement systems to ensure accurate and timely data collection from all sites. - Oversee the accounting function with the assistance of the Head Office Manager, including clarifying individual's responsibilities and reporting duties. - Report to directors with timely and accurate financial information as required. - Liaise with directors, operations managers and site managers to set annual budgets and forecasts for key sites, challenging information given to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the final budgets. - Produce monthly management accounts by site with analysis, commentary, variance reporting and comparison to budget. - Assist external accountants in preparing quarterly financial reports for presentation to the directors. - Produce annual forecasts for the Company to assist directors with financial decision making and compliance. - Oversee the payroll function to ensure staff correctly remunerated and all deductions paid to the appropriate institutions on a timely basis. - Reconcile, approve, submit and pay VAT and MGD returns on a timely basis. - Prepare monthly bank reconciliations. - Review and maintain the sales ledger and purchase ledger. - Review financial transactions and data closely to check for discrepancies. Skills and Qualifications The successful candidate should have; - ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification or qualified by experience. - All round technical ability, including financial reporting and taxation. - Experience of the Sage50 accounting system. - Strong IT skills, including all Microsoft Office programmes. - Experience of preparing and reporting financial results. - Strong systems background. - Excellent communication skills. - Excellent reporting and presentation skills, both verbal and written. - The ability to analyse and interpret financial information. - Strong questioning and investigative skills. - The ability to manage and work effectively with people at all levels of the organisation. - The ability to work well under pressure and to work to deadlines. - Experience of the hotel and leisure industry would be advantageous, but not essential.
