Senior Financial Accountant 4 (30 hrs) or 5 days per week (37.5 hrs) temporary for 6 weeks possibly longer £20 per hour Immediate Start OVERALL JOB PURPOSE: The post holder is responsible for all aspects of the charity's reporting, budgeting and income processes. The post holder is expected to be pro-active, professional and dedicated with the ability to manage a team and influence staff at all levels whilst delivering continuous improvements and work closely with other heads of department. The post holder will represent the charity as ambassador and uphold their reputation & values and support their income generation activities KEY RESPONSIBILITIES To lead, motivate and inspire to ensure team of 3 staff members and volunteers Demonstrate professional accounting expertise in such areas as budgeting and VAT to the clinical and administrative staff teams Develop reciprocal relationships with individuals and organisations where there is a direct or indirect interface with the work concerning effective financial management Work with the Human Resources Teams & Voluntary Services Teams to recruit and induct employees & volunteers for the income and accounts teams To train and support prospective and existing volunteers to ensure they are fully knowledgeable in all areas of their work Ensure best use of resources delegated to this role, including ensuring direct reports fulfil their respective delegated responsibilities for financial management and probity Ensure professional standards and sound internal controls are maintained in all finance operations including, month end reporting, budgeting, cash handling and reporting Prepare the year-end audit pack for the statutory audit and oversee the audit process Prepare monthly management accounts and develop partnerships with budget holders and other responsible officers to better understand issues affecting the annual budgeting process, business activity, nominal code analysis etc. Maintain rolling forecasts and cash flow forecasts, ensuring visibility on working capital is maintained Co-ordinate the annual budget process; supporting budget holders throughout, including dealing with queries, monitoring the process and reviewing the budget submissions for completeness. Prepare the quarterly VAT returns for review and sign off by the Finance Director. Act as key Finance Team contact on any VAT issues and ensure that robust systems are in place to comply with HMRC requirements. Ensure that system processes are clearly documented (income; payments; payroll; petty cash; approvals; bank reconciliations; control account reconciliations etc). EXPERIENCE REQUIRED CCAB Qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) Substantial demonstrable post qualification finance experience Evidence of continuous professional development in aspects of leadership and management Proven abilities in financial and management accounting including budgeting, statutory accounts preparation and projects appraisal Experience of working at a senior level in a busy finance office Proficiency in Microsoft Office products A thorough understanding of the underlying concepts and principles of finance including legislative and/or regulatory frameworks VAT (particularly charities VAT); FRS 102 SORP Working knowledge of complex financial management systems Car owner prefered due to office location.
