The Africa Centre are an ambitious charity based in Southwark, London who are looking for a brilliant, (with proven experience), self-starter Head of Finance and Administration to join their team and be part of their exciting development plans. With a large capital (approx £2m) building renovation project in the design stage due to commence this year, this is an exciting time to become part of a fresh and growing, dynamic team. The Head of Finance and Administration will be responsible for working with the Director to deliver on the charities goals, delivering the capital project on time and on budget, developing and implementing the corporate strategy (including enhancing the performance space and hospitality offering in existing and new spaces) as well as providing a full finance service and the day to day finances. This position will also have responsibility for investments, HR, IT and office management to ensure that strong leadership is maintained across the disciplines. Key Responsibilities will include; Working with the Director to deliver the corporate strategyEnsuring the timely and accurate production of monthly management accounts, cashflows and producing forecasts and analysis to facilitate good decision makingControl and monthly reporting of capital project costs, including monthly reporting to grant funder Producing the annual budget and on-going income and expenditure, and Cashflow forecastsCompleting and submitting the statutory accounts.Manage the investment strategy, investment managers and reporting Acting as the finance business partner across the organisation, working with the Events, Fundraising and Program teams on budgets and strategy, ensuring commercial viability of events/projects etcDelivering reports to donors and ensuring spending is compliant with donor regulations Developing an IT strategy, ensuring the Centre has a good provider of services and that this level of service is maintained Overseeing the HR and people strategy, driving compliance with legal requirements and driving a positive company culture within The Africa Centre Managing the payroll (with external provider)We are looking for a qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA) able to demonstrate commercial acumen, strong business partnering skills, and the ability to add value to an organisation with ambitious but achievable growth plans. Excellent communication skills are essential, as is the ability to build credibility internally and externally with all stakeholders, and be accountable for the smooth running and all outputs, of the finance function. This position would be suitable for candidates looking to move into the Not for Profit sector from the commercial world, exposure to property, investments or events finance would be beneficial.
