We are currently recruiting a Head of Risk and Compliance for our client based in the East Midlands. Acting as the Ambassador for the Bank you will be ensuring a solid compliance culture to the highest standards demonstrating the utmost level of compliance behaviour and to raise awareness of regulatory requirements and compliance policies. You will provide an advisory role for regulatory aspects across the whole business, ensuring best practice and adherence to compliance and regulatory policies and procedures. Key

responsibilities:
Act as an independent review and evaluation body to ensure that compliance issues/concerns are being appropriately evaluated, investigated and resolved Ongoing close review of all legislative and regulatory developments and ensuring senior management is fully briefed on these Provide advice and work with the Management Team to comply with regulatory requirements in a pragmatic and proportional manner Educating staff with respect to compliance with the applicable laws, rules and standards, and acting as a contact point within the Bank for compliance queries from staff members Act as chair of the Risk & Compliance Forum and represent compliance function at relevant committees including the Group Risk Committee and any external meetings Provide reports on a regular basis to keep the senior management informed of the operation and progress of compliance efforts Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and develop/implement pragmatic corrective action plans Maintain the Breaches Register, Financial Promotions Register and Training & Competence records Act as TCF co-ordinator, take an active role in promoting TCF across the Company and oversee that TCF is embedded in the culture of the firm Review and approve financial promotions prior to their issue Develop and management of the Compliance Monitoring Plan (CMP) and ensuring it remains up to date Monitor the delivery of the CMP on a continuing basis and take appropriate steps to improve its effectiveness Support the Compliance Managers in timely delivery of the CMP and conducting any ad-hoc thematic reviews Review reports prepared by the MLRO and Compliance Managers and oversee any compliance work outsourced to third parties Respond to alleged breaches of rules, regulations, policies and procedures and oversee uniform handling of such breaches Develop and revise policies to prevent illegal or unethical conduct Skill Requirements: Experience preferably in a regulated environment. A qualified lawyer, with experience gained in a regulatory or commercial practice. Is or will become registered with the FCA in Controlled Function 10, Compliance Officer. Maintains the highest professional standards to ensure the Company is not in a position of risk. Ability to build supportive relationships with different groups across the business. Works collaboratively with partners, Management Board and Senior Management to resolve client conflicts to acceptable outcomes for all. Makes commercial business decisions and is resilient in the face of resistance. Credibility, professionalism and confidence to implement best practice. Judgement to balance commercial and compliance risks to achieve positive outcomes. Provides strong leadership, mentoring and coaching within the team to develop skills and expertise. Proven "people skills" in terms of recruiting, appraising, developing and motivating staff. Ability to work with the business to achieve its goals within the relevant regulatory regimes. Ability to manage assigned tasks in an assertive, efficient and timely manner. Experience of preparing/delivering training. Ability to consistently demonstrate initiative and confidence in day-to-day dealings with the partners and fee earners.
