VAT Specialist / Tax Office Manager - Kent / Surrey Border - c£27-32k My Client is a well established Financial Services Company. We are looking for a full-time "Tax Office Manager" who may well have come from working for HMRC as a good knowledge of HMRC processes and managing Tax Office relationships is essential to the success of this role Profile of Role: The role of the Tax Office Manager is to oversee and manage all communication received from tax administrations from both EU and non-EU countries. You will possess sound knowledge of the VAT Directive and ensure that tax office rules and regulations are fully adhered to. A key aspect of this role is to ensure internal procedures are correctly followed throughout the tax office enquiry process and communication is responded to in a timely manner according to deadlines set by tax offices. The ability to understand complex rules and regulations and translate them into instructions the business can easily understand is a key element of this role along with ensuring an appropriate framework is maintained to manage and control application of same. You will be required to liaise with all departments and assist with technical queries as required. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Operational Management/Delivery You will have overall responsibility for all tax office communication received and will:
• Ensure all tax office rules and regulations are recorded on internal crib sheets and guidelines
• Interpret key requirements for all enquiries received
• Oversee and monitor emails received through our generic email address and ensure queries are delegated with appropriate advice to the relevant account managers
• Manage translation requests
• Oversee the tax office enquiry process
• Liaise with Tax Offices on issues as required
• Research VAT compliance as necessary
• Handle financial errors and work closely with accounts to resolve any issues
• Attend meetings both in-house and externally on all VAT related issues COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel and Word
• Strong attention to detail with a methodical approach
• Strong interpersonal communication skills at all levels
• Ability to work effectively to tight deadlines
• Possess excellent organisational skills
• Ability to prioritise work and act accordingly
• A sound knowledge of complex VAT rules and regulations
• Possess a flexible approach according to business needs EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• Degree qualified or equivalent or commensurate industry experience.
