Assistant Accountant Norwich, Norfolk The Company Established in 2005, Cornwall Insight provides research, insight and intelligence on the UK energy market. We are now looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our team. The Benefits - Competitive salary - Annual performance bonus - Contributory pension scheme - Private healthcare - Life assurance (4x base salary) - Family friendly policies - Access to a benefits portal - 25 days' holiday plus Bank Holidays - Flexible working hours available The Role As an Assistant Accountant, you'll assist the Junior Finance Manager (JFM) with the smooth running of the Finance department, including but not limited to preparing financial statements and accounts, budgeting, and managing the general ledgers. Responsibilities / Commitments: - Preparing timely monthly financial statements for review by the JFM, including; - Bank reconciliation - Preparation and posting of accruals, prepayments and deferred income - Reporting on sales, purchases, debtors and creditors - Reviewing the trial balance - Production of profit and loss accounts - Responsible for maintaining the company's bookkeeping records, including; - Completing and maintaining sales invoices and reports - Setting up new suppliers on accounting software - Processing supplier invoices - Processing bank receipts and payments - Responsible for preparing the quarterly VAT returns - Assist with the preparation of the Company's annual budgets - Assist with the preparation of the Company's end of year draft accounts for review by the JFM - Assist with the implementation and maintenance of internal financial processes and accounting policies - Assist with the development and maintenance of the company's financial accounting systems, suggesting and implementing improvements where necessary - Keep up to date with relevant accounting, company law and tax legislation and undertake appropriate continuous professional development as required by your accountancy qualification About You To join us as an Assistant Accountant, you'll need: - To be AAT qualified - Strong communication skills - A highly-organised approach - Excellent attention to detail A degree level qualification would be beneficial, as would experience of working in a fast-paced office environment. Knowledge of the professional services sector would also be beneficial.
