The Associated Press is one of the world's largest and most trusted sources of independent news and information. Its video business has bureaux in more than 80 countries, and currently distributes global news, sport, entertainment, technology and lifestyles content to broadcast, online and mobile platforms. Video captured by AP can be seen by over half of the world's population on any given day. We are now recruiting for a Financial Analyst to support our International division, based in London. Reporting to the Director of Planning and Budgeting for International, the Financial Analyst will work with departmental leaders to take ownership of all aspects of Sales International selling expenses and bonus calculations , including ad-hoc project work. They will also provide support to two Senior Financial Analysts, overseeing month end and reporting processes for Sales International when the Senior Financial Analyst is focused on the budgeting process or other projects. Key responsibilities include:
• Ownership of all aspects of Sales International selling expenses, including working with Senior Management to budget within expense targets and agree monthly forecasts, inputting monthly rolling forecasts through Essbase, conducting monthly reviews of actuals and booking of accruals;
• Working closely with the Global Marketing Director and US Finance and UK marketing teams to oversee the International rollout of an ongoing global marketing expenses project;
• Responsible for all bonus calculations, including monthly and annual Archive commissions and bonuses, annual Sales International bonuses and annual bonuses within the AP's Global Media Services (GMS) division;
• Supporting the Senior Financial Analyst to ensure the provision of accurate data as a basis for forecasting and budgeting;
• Supporting the Senior Financial Analysts for Sales International and GMS with month end variance analysis and preparation of month end reports;
• Preparing the GMS flash report in the absence of the GMS Senior Financial Analyst;
• Overseeing the month end and reporting process for Sales International when the Senior Financial Analyst is focused on the budget or other project work;
• Any other tasks as designated by the Director of Planning and Budgeting for International . Essential skills / qualifications:
• Advanced Excel skills;
• Confident working with large amounts of data;
• 2-3 years' experience in a similar industry / business environment;
• Flexible with a proactive 'can-do' attitude;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of management;
• Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment. Preferred skills / qualifications:
• Part-qualified accountant (ideally at final stages of exams);
• Experience of Essbase / SAP / BI.
