Financial Controller Central Milton Keynes The Institute of Acoustics based in Central Milton Keynes is looking for a bright ACCA, AAT or qualified by experience Financial Controller to deal with the full accounting function from processing prime records through to preparing monthly management accounts. The Role Having a minimum of 2-3 years accounting experience working for a Not for Profit type organisation the requirements of the role include: - Supporting the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions ensuring all postings to the ledgers are accurate. - Producing ad-hoc invoicing - Processing bank and credit card transactions - Performing monthly reconciliations. - Preparing VAT returns - Support the Chief Executive and departmental managers to provide analysis and reporting. - Producing monthly management accounts for presentation to the Executive Council - Provide general assistance with regard to the billing process, finance queries from members. - Ensure that technical accounting procedures are maintained and documented. - Preparing an annual audit file and providing assistance to the auditors - Have experience in different accounting packages such as Sage Line 50, Sage Line 200, Access Dimensions, Dynamics NAV etc Prior experience of assisting in the migration from one accounts system to another will be definite benefit You must be eligible to work in the UK. It was formed in 1974 and has some 3000 members from a rich diversity of backgrounds, with engineers, scientists, educators, lawyers, occupational hygienists, architects and environmental health officers among their number. As one of the smaller professional institutions, the Institute of Acoustics has particular strengths in its learned society programmes and its cohesive role for the subject. The Office The Institute is located in a modern, spacious, ground floor fully accessible office in Silbury Boulevard, Milton Keynes. We are a small friendly team of 6 full time and 3 part time staff. Anticipated £24-30K range Pension: Private pension with AEGON 4% employees and 6% employer contribution Hours: 9.00 - 17.00 with one hour lunch break Monday to Friday Holiday: 24 days / year plus public holidays Holiday year runs from 1 Jan -31 Dec Situation The Institute relocated from St Albans to Milton Keynes in July 2018. The Current Accounts manager transferred with the Institute from St Albans to Milton Keynes July 2018 and commutes from Watford. They are leaving end of June 2019 as they do not like the long commute. We are seeking a replacement to start as early as possible in May to enable a long handover. We currently use Access Dimensions as our accounting software but intend to change to MS Dimensions over the next few months.
