In this role, you are part of our Accounts team, an independent division within GSS Management, which works solely with Accounts. As an accountant you will be primarily responsible for reviewing financial statements, auditing all other relevant internal and external parties correlated to the company's fund and complete the audited/unaudited financial statements.

We are looking for an experienced accountant to oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying our financial transactions. Accountant responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures. A successful Accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. The ideal candidate has also experience collaborating and/or managing a team of accountants and junior accountants. Accountant duties also include ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all of our accounting tasks.

To provide a broad range of financial analyses and information on an accurate and timely basis to business management in order to enable assessment of performance against financial and strategic objectives.

You work within a professional team that collectively ensures client satisfaction, by producing accurate account valuations and up to date accounts of the firm. Your valuations are daily, weekly and monthly and you maintain accurate records, identifying and mitigating business risk. You ensure that key service level agreements, as well as audit and regulatory requirements are met.

You will form a key part of the Financial Reporting team and will be responsible for the production of financial and statutory reporting. You will ensure compliance with accounting principles, practices and procedures and be responsible for ensuring that the work is completed in a timely and accurate manner, whilst ensuring quality and consistency of reporting is maintained.

You are required to manage tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including management reporting, statutory reporting, year-end audit preparation, head office reporting, tax reporting and ensuring compliance with GSS Accounting Policy. You will act as a partner to senior business leaders in providing financial information and advice in the support of business strategy.

-Accurately and timely review the Financial Statements of investment funds in terms of Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Statement of Changes in Net Assets, Investment Statement, Cash Flow Statements and a devotion towards Financial Reporting.

-Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.

-Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions; resolving discrepancies.

-Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts; preparing a trial balance; reconciling entries.

-Work with team to deliver the unaudited financial statements accurately and on agreed deadlines.

-Work as an external auditor, consultant and client to deliver the financial statements accurately and per agreed deadline.

-Create Financial Statement templates for team in accordance with the disclosure requirements and rules.

-Implement effective controls and processes in order to maintain accurate records, and identify and mitigate business risk.

-Produce consistent and accurate prices for your allocated funds, meeting tight deadlines within service level agreements.

-Work on monthly balance sheet & income substantiation.

-Assist with the month-end and quarter-end closing process, including the creation, documentation and posting of journal entries to the general ledger.

-Work closely with Product Control around reporting and general ledger tie-outs and monthly reporting package review.

-Prepare various templates at month-end, quarter-end and year-end.

-Assist with internal, and external audit inquires and prepare necessary work papers as required.

-Handle daily Ad Hoc inquires/request to support other teams as needed.

-Ensure effective process controls are implemented and evolve them as necessary; escalate issues to management as appropriate

-Support the identification of new technology and operational improvements to effectively ensure accuracy, reduce costs and increase service quality

-Ensuring high quality (consistency & accuracy) of financial statements and regulatory deliverables.

-Responsible for delivery of Distribution calculation, financial statement preparation, Business Activity statements (BAS), Income Tax returns (ITR) and Periodic Client Reporting (PCR) for allocated funds. Meeting tight deadlines.

-Manage feedback to/from internal departments which will have input into Financial Statements to ensure that client deliverables are met and quality issues are mitigated.

-Maintain strong working knowledge of the various accounting policies for different fund types.

-Prepare annual consolidated return-to-provision calculations including integrated payable reconciliation.

-Prepare monthly consolidated payable and DTA analyses for general ledger account ownership (GL account balance attestation).

-Oversee and supervise department staff in day to day operation functions, budgetary items, performance reviews.

-Supervising various department reporting items and continually involved in system enhancements.

-Daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting related to Financial Reporting and Tax reporting.

-Production of annual plans, multi period outlooks and periodic forecasts for designated businesses covering revenues, costs, balance sheets and regulatory/statistical metrics and measures.

-Continually seek to derive efficiencies and automation opportunities within Performance Management functions and processes

-Responsible for the production of monthly management reporting and comprehensive quarterly management reporting.

-Responsible for continuous improvement of finance processes and procedures.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education:

-A minimum Bachelor's degree in Accounting or relevant field, plus demonstrated auditing qualifications might suffice.

-Minimum 1 years accounting/auditing experience

-Qualified/Part Qualified Accountant ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA/CA

-In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Experience:

-Strong organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.

-Working knowledge regarding large corporate general ledger systems.

-Good knowledge of different types of Financial Instruments and accounting treatment.

-Ability to understand, assess and respond to complex situations and provide strategic solutions.

-+1 years of auditing experience, preferably in public accounting, hospitality industry or comparable industry

Skills:

-Experience in Financial Reporting or Audit environment.

-Proven experience in funds accounting/pricing/client reporting within Financial markets

-Demonstrated technical knowledge of fund products, fund accounting and systems and regulations

-Strong teamwork with the ability to work independently as well

-Exceptional analytical thinking, attention to detail and a sense of urgency

-Good and advanced Excel and Analytical skills.

-Strong analytical, problem solving skills

-Good presentation skills
