Finance Director role with a fast growing specialist manufacturing company. Would suit experienced finance professional looking for their first move to stand alone FD position Role Purpose & Overview The Finance Director will work in conjunction with the Managing Director, providing a solid financial knowledge base to assist in decision making, performance assessment and planning. It is vital that the business operates with a strong level of internal controls, to ensure that a robust set of management accounts can inform management of the progress being made, highlighting potential issues and threats along the way. The role holder will play a significant part in the senior management team working closely to be a key part of decision making, adding value through their financial experience and commercial view. Accountability's The role holder will need to ensure the timely and accurate production of management accounts. This is vital so that the senior management and Board gain insight into the workings and performance of the business Control over cash is a key task within the business, both in terms of reporting on cashflow performance and also in developing short and medium term forecasting routines. Cashflow reporting will need to be developed and operate in conjunction with other aspects of financial planning The individual will need to improve management reporting and develop targeted key performance indicators. This will support the managing director and other senior individuals in controlling performance. The individual will also liaise with external advisors (auditors, tax specialists) to manage these aspects of the business. It is an important aspect of the role and delivering a clean audit report will be a key task. The role will also be the key lead in driving the forecasting process, discussing plans and opportunities with the managing director and other senior colleagues so that a financial output can be developed. The role holder will advise colleagues on how financial performance can be optimised and should be seen as bringing financial and commercial expertise to planning rather than acting as a scorekeeper Performing well within the role would be judged on the following criteria: Revising the month end process to produce management accounts within 1 week of the month end. Developing a management accounts report which highlights the commercial performance of the business and is clear and easy to understand. Working with colleagues to develop KPIs across the business to assist management of performance; a review of the business and clear improvements to management information would be expected within the first three months The individual would also review the current staffing of the small finance function and provide recommendations and a plan for improvement within the first two months of holding the role.
