To deliver effective financial management, control and provide objective financial advice and opinions that positively impact future choices of the business. Job Purpose To lead the finance business partnering team (two direct reports) on the commercial side, covering commercial income (£350m PA), forecasting for 29m, associated commercial cost and capex and effectively support delivery of short to long-term business plan objectives particularly noting their impact. The Senior FBP for Commercial will also focus on supporting the Chief Operating Office (COO) and leadership team during the annual business planning process, lead and support the Finance Director with the annual pricing forum, support forward looking, large scale and/or high-impact investment decisions and support effective financial planning within their area of responsibility. Principal Accountabilities Work with senior divisional management and Finance Director to help develop the medium and long term business plans including appropriate performance targets and metrics Provide objective challenge regarding income plans and take a proactive role in looking for opportunities to deliver services more efficiently and effectively and investigate opportunities Support the business in assuming greater degrees of financial accountability by providing local coaching and training to improve financial confidence and competence across the divisional management teams To provide forward looking insight and challenge, adding demonstrable value through delivering business and commercial insights, acting as a catalyst for the business change Business Partnering Work proactively with key business partners and stakeholders to develop successful partnering relationships Work collaboratively with members of the Finance Business Partner community to promote and share business partnering ideas, learnings, experiences and best practice Provide commercial challenge and rigor to new commercial deals. Reviewing proposals ahead of submission for Commercial Committee governance and approval. Ensuring deals meet the strategic objectives and in line with planning assumptions Develop an effective relationship with key staff in the Finance Shared Service Centre, deploy robust accurate processes in line with the Finance Target Operating Model Support and assist in shaping the long term Commercial strategy Business Planning Act as the lead for the business planning process, liaising with the Leadership Team and interacting with the Group Business Planning team Deliver effective annual business planning process aligned with Group needs Support the improvement rolling business planning processes in relation to Commercial and the wider team Support the delivery of business plan outcomes for Commercial ensuring successful implementation of business plan that adheres to the Group and Board requirements but also provides Commercial with a realistic and attainable target Finance Control and Advisory Review financial performance information and plans, including the annual budget and the division's monthly management accounts & forecasting, to ensure they are robust and accurately reflect key business issues Ensure effective investment management is in operation addressing governance, risk, financial performance and post investment reviews Ensure good cost control and cost management behaviour in the business. Promote good financial disciplines, and risk management processes Leadership Act as a positive representative for Finance with business stakeholders Deputise for the Finance Director in their absence by attending Senior Leadership Team meetings and Finance Senior Leadership Team meetings as required Take a proactive approach in supporting staff development, performance and career progression Work collaboratively and cross-functionally to deliver enhanced decision making through deployment of best practice, effective stakeholder management and behavioural leadership Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements as well as internal control mechanisms Knowledge, Experience and Skills Proven track record in analytical skills, attention to detail and commercial awareness. Knowledge and understanding of management and financial accounting processes and systems Demonstrable experience in Business Partnering and a passion for building successful relationship with the business Proven ability to present a compelling argument through written, numerical and oral presentations. Ability and flexibility to plan, organise and prioritise workloads to achieve pre-determined deadlines with ad hoc requests Demonstrable influencing skills indicating an ability to challenge appropriately at all levels of the organisation Strong IT system orientation including, Excel, Word, PowerPoint skills and experience of financial modelling. Knowledge of SAP will be beneficial Professional Qualifications Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent qualification with 6 years PQE
