About the role The company functions as a standalone business. It was awarded a 15 year operations and maintenance contract for the Metro system by the company starting on 24 June 2018. Reporting to the Metro Finance and Commercial Director, the role of MML Finance Manager is to ensure that all accounting and financial activities are carried out in a professional manner. This role is a key member of the MML management team and has a dotted line report into the MML Operations Director. The Finance Manager is responsible for day to day financial management in accordance with the contracts , and the company's own policies and procedures. This includes ensuring that MML is controlled and managed to deliver the approved budget and cash flow projections as per its Annual Business Plan, whilst mitigating business risk and undue commercial exposure. The role places particular emphasis on the identification, recording and management of revenue, cost, variances, change and ensuring payments are made in a timely manner as well as supporting the MML Operations Director in operational cost control. The post holder will be required to: Ensure that the current position is accurately reflected within the financial monitoring reports. Investigate variances and evaluate and effectively challenge financial management information. Provide the MML management team at the Depot with financial guidance and assistance. Provide relevant reports to MML Management team and MML Board, and other groups as and when required. Provide financial and commercial input into MML Board and management decision papers where required. Ensure all transactions in respect of ticketing schemes are correctly accounted for and that all income due is recovered from the various parties in line with Service Level Agreements. Ensure income received is reconciled to MML revenue reporting and variances are explained. Participate in revenue and marketing workgroups. Monitor key ticketing contracts to ensure performance around cash collection, and deputize at key service provider meetings for the Revenue management team where required. Produce all financial reporting as required under the contracts. To succeed in the role You will need the following skills and experience: Minimum 2-3 years' experience in similar role Experience working along-side and supporting senior managers. Experience of using financial modelling techniques Experience of working in an operational environment. A good working knowledge of policy frameworks, management structures and reporting procedures Very strong technical skills in accounting Advanced Excel/systems skills Good awareness of financial practice and governance arrangements in the stewardship of income Ability to work on own initiative, good problem solving skills Ability to link technical or non-financial information with the financial impacts and consider the commercial aspects In return for your hard work and commitment, we will reward you with a range of competitive and attractive benefits.
