Change Public Practice are working with a leading Chartered Accountancy firm to assist them in the recruitment of an Internal Audit Manager for their Risk and Advisory team in Glasgow. Key services in this team include risk management, outsourced and co-sourced internal audit, ad hoc value-for-money projects and other Assurance and Advisory engagements. This Risk and Advisory Services team provides an expert service to many types of organisations in both the private and public sector. Working as part of a team, you will be involved in implementing internal audit processes in this client facing role, working on a wide range of clients and varying assignments across commercial, housing, health and education sectors. The primary responsibility of the Manager will be to deal with all matter relating to the management of a portfolio of clients and assist Partners in the management of the group. Types of advisory projects that you will get involved in are: advising a business on how to structure its finances and projects etc. to maximise profitability; internal controls, internal controls, governance, testing processes, risk assessment etc.

Responsibilities:

• Act as a major point of contact within the firm for the client together with the Partner. This includes responding quickly to, as well as anticipating, client requests / needs, keeping clients informed of progress in relation to all aspects of the service provided and maintaining regular contact with clients
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients at senior levels, being a principal point of contact throughout the year. Develop a strong commercial understanding of the clients' businesses
• Complete assignments within agreed budgets and timescales and identify opportunities for additional billings
• Ensure assignments are staffed with the appropriate mix of knowledge and skills required
• Ensure that the firm's risk management and quality control procedures are adhered to at all times
• Identify and recognise business and sales opportunities with new clients and inform the Partner as appropriate
• Support Partners and Senior Manages in the development of new business relationships and business proposals through high level sales and marketing activity
• Recruit, retain, develop and motivate employees, which includes participating in graduate recruitment, ensuring job appraisal documentation is completed within deadlines and ensuring appropriate objectives and development plans are in place Requirements:
• You will be fully qualified through a professional accountancy body i.e. ICAS / ICAEW / ACCA / CIPFA / CIIA etc.
• A minimum of 5 years' working in Public Practice or someone who trained in Practice and looking to return would be highly desirable
• Experience of working with Commercial and/or Public Sector clients
• Previous team management experience is essential
• Good working knowledge of risk management and internal audit requirements
• Experience of process, systems and controls testing
• Strong project management skills
