Overview:This is a great opportunity for an assistant or part-qualified accountant who is looking to take the next step in their career. You will have responsibility for for intercompany monitoring, supporting month end close, assisting with the preparation of VAT Returns, and other reporting and analysis. Specific duties: Accounting and control: Preparing and processing journal entries in general ledger Reconciliation and monitoring of intercompany transactions Processing UK GAAP entries in general ledger Monthly reconciliation of specific balance sheet accounts Analysis of various general ledger transactions and account balances as required Assisting with PWC audit queries VAT Reporting: Analysis of sales and purchase transactional data Preparation of regular bi-monthly / quarterly VAT Returns for the UK, Ireland, and South Africa entities Running PeopleSoft VAT reports and queries Review VAT coding of sales and purchase invoices as required to ensure accuracy of underlying records feeding into the VAT Returns General Activities: Submission of national statistical surveys Adhoc reporting /activities when required Experience: It is important that you have experience in the following: Experience completing of VAT returns (PE method preferable) Experience of large computerised general ledger system Strong general accounting knowledge (particularly double entry) Experience of balance sheet account reconciliation, and control Confidence to interact with senior management Strong Excel skills Skills: AAT / CAT qualification, or part qualified ACCA / ACA / CIMA Nice to haves: Financial services industry experience. Experience of working in an FSA regulated environment. Experience of using PeopleSoft general ledger system.
