Customworks is a leading supplier of gift products to independent and heritage retail markets. The company is currently seeking an experienced Financial Controller to manage the financial and regulatory compliance of the company and its subsidiaries. We are looking for an energetic, motivated and influential character, with a passion for excellence who can operate effectively at both strategic and operational levels. Key activities are: Finance Management Provide accurate and concise monthly and annual reports, budgets, accounts commentary and financial statements within agreed deadlines, including KPI's Actively lead and manage annual budget forecasting Identify and communicate financial risks and opportunities in a timely manner to allow actions to be taken Control income and outgoings efficiently to prevent cashflow interruption Prepare quarterly VAT returns & oversee preparation of EC Sales List & Intrastat Take responsibility for the preparation of export, import and EC trade related documentation, ensuring compliance with VAT legislation, EC Directives and any other rules and regulations. Review capital expenditure projects, ensuring financial justification, highlighting significant planned expenditure variances Provide timely and accurate information to tax advisors and relevant authorities Keep fully up to date with changes in financial regulations and legislation Senior Management Team Support Assist with and contribute to long-term business plans Participate in regular reviews in order to effectively measure success of agreed strategies Work with senior team to carry out regular assessments in order to identify process improvements, training needs and cost savings required to improve the business' overall performance. Report on actions required within finance department and manage implementation to meet agreed timescales Payroll/Personnel Oversee Payroll Functions, including pension reporting and related month-end and year-end returns Supervise management of personnel administration Management and Development of Team Lead finance and admin team to develop and maintain a sense of purpose, ensuring that business goals and objectives are communicated Harness a working environment which encourages teamwork, energy and creativity Maintain awareness of current capabilities of direct reports, regularly monitoring performance to ensure that work is completed accurately within agreed timescales and that company policies and procedures are being followed Manage direct reports' personal development and devote appropriate time to training or coaching to ensure maximum performance of department, providing structured feedback at appropriate times You will be a qualified accountant with experience of working in a similar role within a commercial environment, preferably manufacturing. You will provide a positive environment for your team, leading by example in a commitment to good working relations both externally and internally. You must be able to handle periods of high pressure and workload and fully support business goals for growth and profit.
