Your new company
My client is a governmental agency that is based in Central London. They are currently recruiting for a Financial Controller on a permanent basis.
Your new role
Reporting to the Head of Finance you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies and policies particularly in relation to payroll, pensions, treasury, collection of revenue, disbursement of fund, travel, internal controls, risk and audit. You will have line management responsibility for 12/13 direct reports ensuring adherence to their SLA's and KPI's. Furthermore, you will have responsibility for the transaction processing and accounting teams. This will include responsibility to ensure the accurate, reliable and timely processing of financial transactions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, travel, payroll and pensions. In addition, you will be responsible for general ledger accounting, treasury and preparation of the organisation's financial information and financial statements.
What you'll need to succeed
It is essential to be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) where you will be at least 5 years post exam qualified. You will have staff management experience, 5 direct reports as a minimum. You will have experience in managing payroll and pension schemes and have experience in managing transaction processing teams. Furthermore, it is essential to have strong technical accounting experience including planning for external audit and preparation of financial statements.
