The Accountant role for this Not for Profit and Charities business based in Sandhurst is to support the Finance Manager to carry out a wide range of accounting and financial administration tasks.

This Not for Profit and Charities business based in Sandhurst is a national charity that helps people across the whole of the grocery industry - from the largest factory through the supply chain, to the smallest store.

Description

Accountant responsibilities:

  • Perform day-to-day accounting using SAGE software and maintain financial records and filing systems
  • Perform monthly control account reconciliations
  • Assist with production of monthly management accounts and departmental budget reports
  • Ensure financial controls operate in line with policy and procedure
  • Respond to enquiries from staff as necessary regarding financial administration procedures, budget monitoring and other financial matters
  • Monitor and reconcile event and branch income and expenses with the relevant staff/volunteers
  • Undertake general financial administrative duties, including liaison with suppliers and branches
  • Assist in the annual budget setting
  • Assist in the preparation of VAT returns
  • Manage the debtors recovery process
  • Manage the Trading Company accounting system

Profile

Essential Accountant experience:

  • An appropriate qualification or sufficient relevant work experience
  • Highly numerate with knowledge of bookkeeping and experience using SAGE accounting software
  • Understanding of accounting and financial management processes and procedures
  • Exceptional organisational and administration skills with a logical, systematic approach to work and attention to detail
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • A professional, self-motivated, self-starter with the ability to work using their own initiative
  • Ability to work in a busy office environment that demands high levels of concentration while coping with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines, cope with a varied and demanding workload and ability to respond effectively to changing priorities
  • Flexible, hands on, and willing to work at all levels
  • Solution orientated with strong problem-solving skills
  • High level of competence in Excel and Word
