Financial Controller

Interim Financial Controller, 6 months, York, £300-400 day

You will be working for an engineering company based in York.

Your new role

You will be a key contact for the Board Directors. This has included development of the strategy and 5 year business plans, cost reviews leading to a restructure of core activities. You will play a key role in the integration of the York finance function following acquisition including migration of payroll activities. Managing relationships with the Group Finance team to ensure information flows smoothly and to adopt Group processes where possible. Management of the York central overheads which feed into the wider group central overheads, including working closely with budget holders to develop forecasts, budgets and presentations to the Board. Responsible for robust month end close, accurate monthly management accounts, balance sheet management and Group reporting. Lead the production of the statutory accounts and key contact for the external and internal auditors, responsible for all tax related issues including R&D tax credits. Responsible for finance processes and controls, including the development of the in house developed finance system. Cash forecasting and management, including rolling out cash forecasting to sites and developing a new cash model.

Team management of around 17 people including 3 direct reports, qualified accountants, trainee accountants and transactional staff (credit control, invoicing & payments), responsible for recruitment, training and team development.

What you'll need to succeed

You will need to be a qualified accountant with previous experience in interim roles used to quickly integrating into a company and making a real positive immediate impact.
