Your new role
This is an exciting opportunity to work within the Group Finance function

This is a newly created role to recognize the growth of the Institute. The successful candidate will be embedded in the Institute teams, interacting directly with the Director and his team, but supported by the Group Finance function.

The role will cover a broad range of responsibilities as the key finance support for the Institute:

  • Streamline financial infrastructure to better account for spend across different Group entities that incorporates Institute related spend (both opex and capex)
  • Support financial forecasting (annual and 5-year business plan)
  • Create monthly reports (vs. forecast) for effective financial management
  • Support preparations for the Bi-Annual Education and Philanthropy Review
  • Support the preparation of Statutory Reporting
  • Lead/support reporting for:
    • Office for Students
    • Institute for Apprenticeships
    • Education Skills and Funding Agency
    • Dyson Education and Philanthropy Report
    • Higher Education Statistics Authority
    • Other regulatory bodies and government agencies as required
  • Ensure compliance of the Institute within the overall global framework of Dyson
  • Day to day interaction with general Dyson processes
  • Manage the Apprenticeship Levy

This is what we need you to have:

  • Experience working in Higher Education (university) sector- Essential
  • Qualified Accountant - 3+ years' PQE
  • Strong regulatory, financial accounting and analysis background
  • Academically minded and detail orientated
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • High levels of integrity
  • Strong technical skills especially in Excel and Financial Systems
  • A strong ability to demonstrate a commercial aptitude
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with key stakeholders
  • Ability to successfully influence and contribute to key decision making
  • Drive for results
  • Ability to work to strict reporting deadlines
  • Proactive approach to a business
  • Flexible in approach with excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
