EY delivers a critical contract on behalf of the UK Government to attract and deliver foreign direct investment (FDI) into the UK. This contract is a core part of EY's Government & Public Sector Advisory practice and International Trade capability. We are recruiting for a senior position - our Director of Contact Management - and are looking for senior FDI professionals with a proven track record FDI delivery to be part of our senior management team. As our Director of Contact Management, you will be responsible for managing all enquiries from across the globe from companies seeking to invest in the UK, for supporting their decisions to invest and liaising with the Department for International Trade's (DIT) overseas network of teams to manage their pipelines of investment opportunities to deliver against the UK's FDI targets. The opportunity The Director of Contact Management for the Investment Services Team (IST) contract is a member of the IST Senior Management Team and responsible for leading the 3 geographic teams that supports foreign companies seeking to establish or expand their presence in the UK. The Director will lead 3 geographic facing teams handling inward investment enquiries, projects, company visits and providing expertise and insight to investors, with the aim to help them successfully land or expand in the UK. The Director is also responsible (as member of SMT) for providing strategic oversight, leadership and managing EY's commercial and operational relationship with senior DIT client representatives. Your key responsibilities Leadership and Strategic Direction Develop the overall IST Business Plan, Targets and key SPIs monitoring performance against these targets updating management with information/intelligence, and risks and issues and monthly reporting to senior DIT clients Set the vision and direction for the CMC Team, creating a high performing team to deliver against the team's challenging targets Develop overall CMC business plan and targets, setting clear assignment objectives for assignment team and deliverables. Stakeholder management of senior DIT client relations including DIT's Investment Support team and Global Operations Performance Management Manage CMC Team in line with the IST Business Plan to ensure targets and operational performance indicators are achieved by the team including reviewing the performance of the team Ensure all members of the team meet and exceed their targets for generating and securing FDI wins and new opportunities. Lead on the review of the CMC team's performance, achieving insights into where the team's resource is best deployed, to ensure the greatest return and taking action where necessary to improve performance. 3.Operational Delivery Management Deploy, task and manage CMC Heads, Executives, Analysts and Co-ordinators to ensure that FDI opportunities are managed quickly through the pipeline providing our clients with a professional service at all times. Ensure CMC resource is assigned efficiently and effectively on appropriate active FDI cases managing these through to project completion. Coach and develop CMC team and develop expertise across the team, to ensure all staffed are equipped to delivery exceptional service and support to potential investors. Develop and maintain systems and procedures to facilitate best practice operation of CMC operations Client Management Manage the IST relationship with DIT HQ Directors, Senior Management and Posts; working to ensure all resources are aligned to meet the IST (and CMC) targets. Lead in educating DIT's overseas Post network around the role of IST and how we work together Support management of EY's commercial risk under the contract by managing scope creep and additional DIT asks Take a leadership position, informing and influencing key stakeholders at the local, national and international level. Drawing on effective influencing skills, to help shape their agendas and activities to support the IST's objectives. Create/tap into sector-focused networks to develop information and useful contacts nationally and sub nationally Help to deliver UK First approach at all times. Skills and attributes for success Proven planning and organisation skills with ability to work to tight deadlines Proven ability to build and manage high level relationships Effective team leadership Calm when working under pressure Understands and accurately interprets team dynamics An understanding of project management and account management disciplines and how to apply them for practical effect Calm when working under pressure Ability to self-develop in awareness of DIT goals and structure of operating (DIT and IST) To qualify for the role you must have A strong track record in FDI delivery Understanding of FDI flows Demonstrated experience of leading and managing successful multi-disciplinary teams Experience of working in a results-oriented, matrix managed environment Holding a degree, preferably a related business discipline.
