Dawngreen is a commodity trading company specialising in the supply of raw ingredients into the pet food industry. We are importers and exporters of a worldwide range of products used in the pet food markets, primarily seed used in the bird food industry. Job Description - Assistant Management Accountant This is a demanding role with a wide range of accounting functions, a summary of tasks as below: Processing, maintaining and reconciling all purchase ledger transactions including the approval and processing of duty and VAT on imports and exports Processing, maintaining and reconciling all sales ledger transactions Credit control Maintain and monitor cash flow Monthly Account reconciliations Contribute to the production and submission of quarterly VAT returns monthly EC Sales monthly Intrastat reports Manage and Maintain Fixed Asset Register and depreciation Contribute to the preparation of monthly management accounts including profit and loss accounts, balance sheet, cash flows, variance analysis and commentaries ensuring details are accurate Liaising with other team members in order to put the finance view in context Plan and prioritise work according to company and management needs and instructions Monitoring financial information systems Interpreting and communicating financial data to non-financial managers Explain work to a junior member of the team Establish and maintain financial policies and management information systems and provide high quality support service by liaising with management colleagues on all aspects of finance Providing a support service by working with all departments and the management team to help make financial decisions Ensuring spending is kept in line with the budget Monitoring and evaluating financial information systems and suggesting improvements where needed Implementing corporate governance procedures, risk management and internal controls The ideal applicant must possess the following: good mathematical and computer skills AAT level 4 or equivalent analytical ability and a logical approach a good understanding of business accuracy and attention to detail excellent communication skills & team player self-motivation, organisational and time-management skills honesty and discretion helpful, friendly and approachable experience in a finance role The following is an advantage but not essential Experience in dealing with accounting and reporting in foreign currencies The successful applicant is joining a small team in an independent and growing family company.
