Sellick Partnership has been engaged to recruit a Commercial Accountant for an organisation which has undergone wholesale change and is now in a divisional 'start-up' phase for this particular area of a wider Group. The change has meant that our client is looking for a candidate with a broad profile in this 'all encompassing' position where the role will involve technical modelling ( advanced excel skills ), commerciality, senior stakeholder business partnering, and hands on month-end involvement. The role is expected to last for at least 6 months, but has a very high chance of being extended for the right candidate. This role will support the Finance Director and a small project team who have been set up to accelerate all systems, processes, governance, accounting and other commercially related aspects of a 'start-up' business. A background in Finance is essential in order to carry out a very short month end clean process, the key requirements are possessing excellent excel modelling skills ideally derived from a Financial Services / regulated sector background. The Role The key accountabilities will include:- Supporting planning process, owning financial models and underpinning new strategic plans and forecasts. Excellent financial modelling skills within Excel. Stakeholder management with subsequent influencing skills relating to strategy. Delivery of financial and MI reporting, providing full commercial and financial analysis with subsequent recommendations to support stakeholders. Other Ad-hoc project work to support decision making and reporting to senior management. Including support of cost centre managers with budgeting, reporting and variances. Hands on involvement to assist with financial control framework including regulatory reporting requirements. The Person A successful applicant will first and foremost possess Advanced Excel skills for modelling purposes. You will have experience working within a regulated service ( ideally Financial Services ) and will have the mind-set and capability to be very hands on in this start up environment where duties will be wide varied, commercial, strategic and hands on. You will have a strong communicative nature and be able to partner with varied stakeholders whilst having the energy to drive ideas, actions and pace to the process. You will drive the change and input to crucial commercial decisions that will determine the future direction.
