We are currently working with a US law firm who are looking to recruit a Senior Compliance Officer on a permanent basis. The ideal candidate will have compliance experience gained from a law firm rather than financial services. The sole purpose of this role is to support the firms critical risk management function. Responsibilities include: Coordinating and consulting with relevant staff to bring in new business to the firm. Drafting engagement terms, including scopes of engagement, specific waivers, and alternative fee arrangements. Reviewing, summarising and recommending modifications to outside counsel guidelines and coordinating approval of such guidelines and engagement terms with all stakeholders. Collaborating with lawyers to settle on appropriate terms of engagement Communicating all relevant, valuable information needed for the new client review process. Reviewing, interpreting, and summarising conflict report results Demonstrating sound analysis of conflicts issues, as well as resolving conflicts independently, by consulting with all relevant stakeholders. Developing expertise on conflicts rules and approaches in specific practice areas and help to formulate templates, algorithms and frameworks of analysis for conflicts issues in such area. Conducting anti-money laundering due diligence and liaising with the Head of Compliance & Risk Management on related issues. Candidate Requirements: Post qualification experience as a lawyer or risk professional with a city and/or international law firm strongly preferred A background in conflicts and client intake issues Excellent oral and written communication skills Proven initiative and independent thought Must be flexible in order to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities; able to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple, detailed tasks. Able to be a proactive self-starter, who understands the details within a much larger context Able to influence and build strong working relationships with internal clients and colleagues
