Financial Accountant - Chesterfield - £35,500 Chase and Holland are working with a Trust who are seeking to appoint a full-time (37 hours) permanent Financial Accountant to lead their busy finance team. Your role will be to deliver an efficient and responsive financial accounting service to the Trust and the schools within the trust. Ensuring the Trust adheres to its financial procedures and the Trust's assets are safeguarded (including cash). The suitably qualified individual will be responsible for managing the payroll and the purchase, sales and fixed assets ledgers of the Trust. Your key

responsibilities:
Ensure timely and accurate completion of reports and statutory returns as required. Manage the cash flow and cash resources of the Trust including oversight of payments to suppliers, members of staff, HMRC, etc and to manage all Trust bank accounts. Maintain VAT records and to ensure that submissions to HMRC are made on time and that payments to/reclaims from HMRC are made on a timely basis. Manage the payroll of the Trust. Manage the Teachers' Pension Scheme and Local Government Pension Scheme. Manage the balance sheet effectively and collect debts efficiently. To ensure that all balance sheet entries are fully reconciled to values on supporting documentation on a monthly basis. Work with the Management Accountant to support the preparation of monthly accruals and prepayments. Develop, operate and maintain accurate and robust financial procedures and systems within the requirements set by the Trust Manage the regular audit visits of the Trust when auditors are on site. Ensure that all the financial accounting information required to prepare financial statements and the annual report is available to support the preparation of audited accounts. Identify, research and analyse opportunities for funding stream/ grants and make appropriate bids to benefit the environment and learning opportunities within the Trust. To set targets and monitor performance of staff in the finance team, ensuring that training needs are identified and addressed, high standards are maintained, legislation/regulations and procedures are adhered to and that work is delivered on schedule. Assist the COO to manage all aspects of the school's financial software, ensuring that all users can access relevant information and have the skills to do so. Work with the Management Accountant in the preparation of budgets and forecasts to model future cash movements and balance sheet values. Ensure that the Trust and constituent schools stay within budget. Monitor the ParentPay system. To monitor Cover expenditure across the Trust and work to reduce the impact of this cost on all schools. Be responsible for the 6th form bursary scheme. Assist schools to plan for and manage the finances of trips. Requirements: Self-driven and proactive Have knowledge of working with consolidated accounts Be at least ACA, CIMA or ACCA part qualified Have strong IT skills (especially Excel including pivot tables and lookups etc.) In return you will receive: A competitive salary pending a review in April 2019 and a role with plenty of responsibility in a strong finance team.
