My client has a fantastic opportunity for an Internal Auditor to join their head office team based in Basingstoke. The Internal Auditor will work as part of the risk team with a key area of responsibility to manage our internal audit activity. The role will also support members of the senior leadership in relation to risk management, data protection and GDPR and will therefore need to develop an excellent understanding of the business and build strong working relationships with colleagues and managers across the business, particularly in Finance and IT. Other duties as our Internal Auditor include: - Contribute to the planning and development of a risk focused internal audit plan. - Deliver the internal audit plan, which may involve managing internal or external audit resources under a co-sourced arrangement. - Report findings to management, making informed and considered recommendations for improving the internal control environment. - Monitor the timeliness and effectiveness of agreed actions. - Prepare and present a quarterly internal audit update for the Audit & Risk Committee. - Assist management in facilitating the Committee's annual review of the effectiveness of internal control and risk management. - Monitor and track the completion of internal audit recommendations and report regular status updates. - Support management to provide advice to the Board and Audit & Risk Committee in their assessment of the business's principal risks and defining risk appetite. - Help facilitate bi-annual divisional and Board level risk reviews. You will have the following experience: - Retail or multisite experience in a commercial organisation - Qualified accountant / auditor - A strong understanding of audit concepts - A proven track record of delivering effective audits - Excellent communication skills, including report writing - Initiative / self-starting - Attention to detail - Confident in challenging - Track record of dealing with senior stakeholders - Strong work ethic and flexibility - some long days - An understanding of the GDPR and associated privacy regulations would be beneficial - An understanding of information and cyber security standards would be beneficial Bonus points for: Knowing your stuff.
