Reed Accountancy Oxfordshire are incredibly pleased to be partnering exclusively with an exceptional organisation in the recruitment of an Assistant Accountant. The Assistant Accountant plays a pivotal role within this medium sized finance team and is responsible for a number of important processes which ensure the organisation operates at the highest standard. The role is located just outside of Central Oxford. Reporting to the Finance Manager and working alongside the Management Accountant, this position will primarily be responsible for: Payroll Responsible for implementation of payroll changes as advised by HMRC, accurate processing of starters and leavers Responsible for upkeep of staff details on internal system Responsible for maintaining pension information, performing reconciliations to the payroll system Assisting in the compliation of annual payroll budget Resolve all queries in a timely manner Completion of P11d's for all employees, including P60s Performing all balance sheet reconciliations with relation to payroll, including pensions, National Insurance, childcare vouchers Purchase Ledger Management of entire purchase ledger function, from processing to reconciling supplier statements, identifying where accruals and prepayments are necessary Ensuring all coding and authorisation is adhered to Accurate recording of payment of invoices by direct debit and standing order Responsible for analysing reporting on expenditure and summarising accounting data, to support the annual budgeting process Expense processing, including credit card reconciliation Reconciliations Ensuring all cash received is reconciled on all systems Ensuring all transactions are posted and reconciled to the system Reconciling general ledger control accounts Processing manual accounting entries Reconciling intercompany accounts Accounting for all rent and utilities Processing all invoices for payment, ensuring tax is applied where appropriate Managing direct debits Ensuring rents are prepaid and released appropriately Providing support to Finance Manager as and when required, including dealing with complex queries Assisting in the development, review and implementation of financial policies, controls and process notes Occasionally managing temporary members of staff, providing feedback and development Assisting in the resolution of queries from budget holders on I&E Preparing working papers and schedules necessary for external auditors In order to be considered for this position, you will ideally have the following skills, experience and attributes: In order to be considered for this position, you will ideally have the following skills, experience and attributes: Ideally be Part-Qualified in ACCA/ACA/CIMA or AAT Qualified or Qualified by Experience, with significant experience in working in an accounting role, understanding processes and procedures relating to purchase ledger and payroll with a desire to learn (study support will be available for the suitable candidate) Advanced Excel skills including working knowledge of Pivot Tables, V Lookups. Experience of dealing with all levels of seniority within an organisation, dealing with staff from non-finance backgrounds Payroll experience including processing and returns This role is truly a rare opportunity to work within an organisation who are highly regarded in Oxfordshire.
