Group Payroll Officer We are recruiting for a Group Payroll Officer initially to work full-time 40 hours per week, but may change to part time after a period of time. The Group Payroll Officer will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of company payroll and dealing with all related statutory matters. Based at our Head Office in Hertford, this is a sole charge role responsible for the end to end processing of monthly payrolls for our UK and Irish operations. The successful candidate will need a keen eye for detail to ensure that weekly time-sheets are accurately input and overtime is calculated correctly. Reporting to the Group F inancial Controller, you will be the point of contact for all payroll queries for the company. Key responsibilities and duties: End to end processing of company payrolls for UK and Ireland on a monthly basis (including the collation and inputting of time sheets) Administering the payroll aspects of auto-enrolment pension Control and safeguarding of sensitive data Reporting and submission of returns to government tax agencies (HMRC, Irish Revenue), e.g. RTI, P30 Ensure compliance with relevant UK and Irish legislation Updating payroll parameters in line with legislation, applying tax codes and national insurance instructions etc Year-end procedures, reconciliations and returns to tax authorities Maintaining suite of payroll reports to facilitate clear audit trail Maintaining leave of absence and overtime reports Calculation and processing of termination payments (e.g. redundancy) Processing increases and calculation of back pays Assisting the Financial Accountant with month end consolidation Reconciliation of payroll and UK and Ireland PAYE Reconciling payroll related GL accounts Provide monthly reports for HR and Finance for auditing and statistical purposes Provide any ad-hoc reports required Ability to keep up-to-date with legislation changes Keep filing and archiving up-to-date Audit payroll reports to ensure that all information has been correctly input into the payroll system Irish Payroll CWPS (pension, sickness) also Union contributions reconciliation and reporting, communication and payments details to Finance Assisting within the finance department as required SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Significant experience in a similar role with end to end processing of payroll Highly organised and self-motivated to ensure payroll administration is done in a timely manner Good interpersonal skills Working knowledge of accounts Excellent numeracy and communication skills Ability to multitask and prioritise workload to meet deadlines High degree of accuracy and attention to detail Ability to work to deadlines Understanding of payroll legislation and processes Ability to interpret awards and relevant legislation Customer service focus Able to work effectively and efficiently with fluctuating work demands and is flexible in their work approach Must have excellent IT Skills in particular Excel Team player DESIRABLE Experience working within the construction industry or similar project based business Experience with COINS software Payroll qualification N.B., It should also be noted that the above list of principal duties is not necessarily a complete statement of duties and should be considered as for guidance only .
