Compliance Advisor - Health, Safety and Environment - Humber
Location:
Immingham with travel to all 4 sites (Immingham, Grimsby, Hull & Goole) Are you passionate about Health & Safety and want to make a difference in a Compliance Advisor role? ABP are looking for a highly safety conscious individual to join the Humber Compliance Team to support the delivery of business objectives relating to safe working practices across our Humber ports. This role would suit somebody looking to develop a career in Health and Safety. Main Responsibilities Working with the compliance team and other departments to ensure safe working practices and a safe working environment are commonplace on the Humber. Engaging with their respective team to create a strong compliance culture which recognises local ownership of compliance at all levels and strives to deliver a safe, beyond zero-harm working environment. Ensure health and safety inspections and audits are conducted on a planned basis and submit reports to line managers. Assist departments in carrying out compliance risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) and advising where necessary. Ensure dangerous occurrences and accidents at work are investigated and recommend remedial measures to prevent recurrence where necessary. Provide advice on measures necessary to achieve compliance with appropriate legislation. Develop and deliver health and safety training in accordance with company requirements. Driving culture change, embedding continuous improvement in all activities and processes, to achieve a beyond zero-harm level of performance. Assist and participate in emergency exercises. Assist in the development and implementation of safety campaigns. Interested? We are looking for somebody who has: A recognised Health and Safety Qualification (Bsc. NEBOSH (Health, Safety or Environment) Diploma, NVQ 5 or other relevant qualification) and be a chartered member of (or working towards) IOSH. Good written, verbal, presentation, training and influencing skills. A proactive and motivated approach. Good organisational and people management skills A current UK Driving Licence. Ideally, you'll also have : Minimum 1 year working within the Health, Safety and Environment function Experience with COMAH, dangerous goods and major hazards would be advantageous. Cargo Handling in Ports qualification (can achieve once employed) Knowledge of Port Marine Safety Code.
