UK Accountant - 9-12 month FTC Maternity cover

Your new company
My client is a software company based in Newbury, who are looking for a UK Accountant to join their team for 9-12 months. The office is open plan, easily accessible and has onsite parking as well as having a friendly and buzzing atmosphere. The chosen candidate will have experience working in a similar role and a positive, can do attitude.

Your new role

Month End Management Reporting:

  • Manage the completion of the UK month end close
  • Detailed review and analysis of operating expenses by cost centre
  • Manage and reconcile the UK balance sheet monthly
  • Create the month end file of all journals and supporting documentation
  • Ensure intercompany transactions are fully reconciled and queries resolved timely
  • Process & communicate intercompany recharge requests timely
  • Complete month end reporting of actuals vs forecast, budget and prior year
  • Support the monthly cash flow forecasting process

Forecasting & Budgeting:

  • Manage the inputs to the monthly operating expenses forecast and annual budget process in line with regional requests
  • Update forecast adjustments and budget entries into the Hyperion reporting system

Statutory Reporting: UK&I

  • Support the monthly UK & I Intrastat submissions
  • Support the calculation, reporting and payment requests for UK & I VAT submissions
  • Support Corporation Tax calculations and payments
  • Complete ad hoc annual reports and inputs as requested
  • Support all internal and annual external audits
  • Be the point of contact for the external audit team

Accounts Payable:

  • Support the Purchase Order process to enable timely supplier payment
  • Manage the employee expenses process for the UK and resolve queries
  • Verify and audit expense claims according to the regional expenses policy


  • Support local Human Resources team and Shared Service Centre with monthly payroll sign off process
  • Enter and reconcile payroll transactions monthly
  • Calculate, monitor and reconcile employee bonus, commission and benefits entries monthly
  • Provide actual vs forecast and budget analysis of headcount related data monthly
  • Maintain headcount reporting by cost centre, communicating changes as necessary


  • Maintain updated process documentation for UK procedures
  • Be the central point of contact for UK banking activities

What you'll need to succeed

  • Qualified Accountant (1-3 years experience) or QBE
  • Experience working on Oracle or Hyperion advantageous
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrate a positive/can do attitude
  • Ability to prioritise and multitask
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office
