About Secret Escapes Secret Escapes is the UK's biggest members-only website that runs best-in-market flash sales of four and five star hotels and holidays worldwide. We offer our members exclusive rates of up to 60% off. We're looking for grafters and self-starters to join the gang, who can keep up with the pace and want to make a difference. We still work in relatively small teams, so there's no room for coasting along. We're friendly, happy, and most importantly, we work hard. We're not afraid to get our hands dirty and we're all madly passionate about our brand. Problems we are trying to solve The data that you'll be helping to make sense of ranges from the businesses P&L, to email open and click rates, to specific hotel availability. The goal is to understand this data, model and interpret it to determine trends, draw conclusions and use it to make decisions on what the business should do next, or to forecast the future. Things you'll be working on Creating weekly and monthly analysis to assess trading performance Ad hoc analyses and one off projects - this will make up around 30% of the role, and these projects are varied, delving into many different parts of the business Supporting the quarterly planning/re-forecasting processes Supporting cohort modelling and KPI analysis Working with BI tools (largely via Excel pivot tables) to support team members and GMs Helping to maintain and continually improve regular BI reports How the magic happens The Financial Planning and Analysis team sits at the heart of strategic decision making at Secret Escapes, producing analysis to assess past performance and forecast future performance. We're a close knit team, based in the London office, but with a global remit. We work hard, with pride in what we produce, and we work closely with the senior exec team here at SE. The must-haves Strong academics (2.1 numerical degree from top tier institution) Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (needs to be demonstrated) Proficiency in SQL and/or Tableau is desirable Experience of working with large data sets and creation of financial models Demonstrable interest in travel and/or e-commerce Attention to detail, taking ownership for accuracy of output Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise work effectively And you are... Hungry to learn and develop Highly numerate Excellent communication skills Enthusiastic and driven Organised, with attention to detail Innovative, creative and imaginative Customer-focused and commercially aware Willing to adapt and pick up new techniques Things you should know You'll get exposure at the highest levels within the company - it's not unusual for our CEO to pop by our desk to ask for some numbers directly. We get on really well as a team, and there are some institutions that are really important: The milky tea break, trips to the local Vietnamese lunch spot, and Sainsbury's snack runs (food is important to us). We are an equal opportunity employer: We value and actively seek out a richly diverse range of talent, and have policies in place to ensure that every applicant and employee has the best chance to thrive here. We are an equal opportunity employer and all applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to any characteristic protected by law
