Robert Half are partnering with a North American headquartered Global Markets firm to recruit a stand-alone Executive Director, UK Tax. The firm, located in the City of London, is growing its Capital Markets, Investment Banking and Corporate Banking businesses and offers flexible career paths. The role is, effectively, the UK Head of Tax, reporting to the Global Head of Tax, and is responsible for ensuring tax compliance while providing taxation advice and regulatory guidance to support the development of business plans, strategies, policies, practices and procedures. The role will require close liaison with international counterparts and the building of strong and effective internal relationships in the local business. Role The Executive Director, UK Tax role for the Global Markets firm based in The City will take full control of the UK tax function, ensuring compliance with all applicable tax regulations. You will manage and implement the development of effective tax strategies and work with the management and business to provide advice on the tax implications of strategic initiatives and individual transactions. You will be expected to provide timely and effective advice pertaining to local and international tax issues including US s871m regulations and monitor the latest developments. The role is the primary contact for taxation authorities and regulatory agencies and you will be responsible for these relationships as well as managing the UK tax audit cycle. The role is both broad and deep, working closely with senior management to shape and influence strategy and planning whilst ensuring full compliance with local regulations. Profile The Executive Director, UK Tax for the Global markets firm based in The City will have proven experience in the tax function of a financial services firm or accounting firm with sound knowledge of Corporate banking/Global markets businesses. You will have an in-depth technical knowledge of UK tax laws and regulations and previous experience working with HMRC. You will also have substantial experience providing advice on the tax implications of transactions and strategic initiatives and be comfortable working with senior management, both locally an internationally. Prior experience and knowledge of US and international tax regimes as they pertain to a global markets business would also be useful. You will be results-oriented, self-motivated, proactive and with the ability to work independently.
