Job Details

A Payroll and Benefits Manager position for someone with extensive ADP exposure, ideally from a large corporation. It entails several elements of payroll, strategy, market analysis and budgeting.

The client is a global shipping container company based in the heart of East London. It's one of the 10th largest in its field with a network service covering over 100 countries.

Description

As the Payroll and Benefits Manager you will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop and maintain a Total Reward Strategy for the UK and European businesses
  • Review performance related pay and the design of bonus schemes in line with the needs of the business
  • Ensure efficient and compliant salary administration for RHQ and UK Division, all staff including expats
  • Prepare monthly pay cycle for all UK offices, including HMRC payment requirements and financial reporting for Finance Divisions
  • Manage HMRC end of year process, P60 production/distribution and P11d / P35 submissions
  • Prepare PAYE Settlement Agreement, and short term visitor reporting for HMRC
  • Maintain an awareness of HMRC legislation, changes to taxation /NIC rules etc
  • Assist International Mobility Manager with expat annual salary review, and in running modified payroll for UK based expats
  • Assist in Expat secondment procedures by preparing salary build up calculations as a back-up for International Mobility Manager
  • Manage the contracts for various vendors eg payroll, SAP, insurance and benefits providers and insurance brokers
  • Liaison regarding renewal of benefits insurances on an annual basis
  • Management of ad hoc benefits in the UK - eg Cycle to Work Scheme, TASTE Card scheme, Savings through Work, Childcare vouchers
  • Responsible for the production of annual Total Reward Statements
  • Continually looking at cost effective wellbeing initiatives to support employees
  • Process monthly pension scheme contributions - in conjunction with Scheme Administrators
  • Manage annual pension scheme renewal - in conjunction with Scheme Administrators. Provide data for annual pension scheme audit and respond to Auditor's questions
  • Manage and implement the annual pay and bonus review process accurately and effectively within budget constraints.
  • Provide guidance to Board in planning and budgeting for annual salary and bonus review process across European region
  • Co-ordinate annual salary review and bonus process across Europe and provide guidance to regional offices
  • Manage UK annual salary and bonus review process - Preparation of all annual salary review data, review letters, audit requirements and ensure all payroll deadlines are met
  • Research, analyse and present market data and benchmarks / competitor analysis to feed into total rewards strategy and ensure the company is able to attract and retain talent
  • Conduct pay and benefits benchmarking across all UK and European offices to feed into salary benchmarking and ensure competitive packages
  • Lead with annual budget preparation which involves checking and reviewing spending against budget relating to provision of benefits, payroll, pension, etc. working with GM HR and Planning team.
  • Prepare and analyse annual gender pay gap reports across all regions, with assistance of HRMs in the regions where required
  • In conjunction with HR Manager prepare KPI reports for the business as required
  • Prepare monthly holiday accruals reports for Finance team
  • May also be some project work i.e harmonisation of packages across new acquisitions, job evaluation, etc in line with the needs of the business

Profile

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals qualification desirable
  • A minimum of 5 years' payroll experience including recent experience in using ADP payroll
  • system essential along with experience of carrying out salary reviews and surveys
  • Previous experience in dealing with pension scheme contributions essential
  • Good working knowledge of the tax implications and legal compliance requirements of
  • reward, including salary sacrifice schemes
  • Experience of working in a commercial environment
  • Experience in working with pay grading schemes and collating market data surveys
  • Experience of creating and implementing HR & Reward Policies, some European experience
  • desirable
  • Experience of using HR databases and other IT systems
  • Previous experience in using Mercer for ex-pat salary build-ups useful
