Department overview: The Wholesale Cost Advisory Finance team is committed to the analysis and reporting of Nomura Group's Wholesale expense base. The main responsibility of the team is to provide insight and analysis into the Wholesale and Corporate cost base through MIS, to aid senior Nomura management with decision making and as a tool to manage and control a global expense base in excess of approx. $5bn Cost Advisory are also responsible for helping drive cost efficiency, achieve consistent treatment and encourage and monitor cost reduction through the organisation, by working closely with regional Finance and Corporate functional counterparts around the globe. Role description: Business Partnering with key stakeholders to drive optimal business decisions Play a leading role in the annual budgeting and forecast cycle across Corporate functions and Front Office Managing the delivery of the Wholesale financial plan and forecasts including the costs saving initiatives and strategy Presentation of monthly MI and underlying analytical schedules across various facets of Global Wholesale cost base Provide insightful analysis and recommendations in order to deliver high quality understanding of the underlying cost base and drivers of budget variances Support a number of tactical and strategic projects to optimize the cost base by realizing efficiencies / changes in operating model Contribute new ideas for fresh analysis, improvement of process and for making better use of technology Provide career guidance and mentoring to the CMA team, ensuring training and development needs are being met. Oversee and provide support to offshore team in Powai to ensure accurate and timely delivery of BAU reporting Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required: The candidate should have a keen interest in Cost Management. The role of the Cost advisor has a project focus and would suit someone who wishes to perform in a finance function that encourages commercial and strategic thinking. The role offers good business exposure and support from wider finance to make an impact in this area and challenge the current processes. The candidate should be a creative thinker and proactive problem solver who can independently conduct analysis and develop strategies. Moreover, the candidate should be a fast thinker/quick learner and possess the ability to work effectively under pressure, in a rapidly changing environment in order to meet deadlines. Specific key requirements include: Strong academics to degree level Qualified accountant (CIMA / ACA / ACCA) High level cost consolidation and analysis experience beneficial Need to have excellent communication / presentation skills - particularly using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Accustomed to dealing with senior stakeholders Used to ad hoc work turned around at short notice A key requirement is experience of MIS design, preparation and presentation Previous exposure to management reporting Team Player with strong communication skills and proven ability to deal with Senior Management and personnel located remotely Excellent attention to detail with an ability to manage multiple tasks and strong problem solving skills Experience of Investment banking would be advantageous but not necessary Experience of creating, monitoring or reporting on cost save programmes advantageous Experience in Hyperion/Essbase would be advantageous
