Financial Accountant Contract 12 Months Role Overview My client, a leading energy provider, is looking to engage a Financial Accountant on a 12-month contract with the possibility of a permanent placement. You will be joining the Finance Shared Services (FSS) Team which is integral to the development and success of Finance with my client. This team is central support to the business as a whole and is responsible for the provision of quality service and information across Financial Accounting, Accounts Payable, Purchasing Support and System Support. In your role of a Senior Analyst - Financial Accounting Services you will support, and lead aspects of, the management and integrity of General Ledger in conjunction with delivering a comprehensive range of financial accounting services to all business units. The role will also involve leading and supporting the transition of activity from other business units into FSS ensuring all processes and systems are consistent, standardised, efficient and effective. Where applicable you will manage Analysts; supervising, guiding and motivating the team. Nature and Scope As Senior Analyst you will have the opportunity to contribute to the success of the function by supporting change and striving to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction. Principle Accountabilities There is a broad range of activities you will undertake in supporting the management and integrity of the General Ledger and delivering a comprehensive range of financial accounting services to all business units; note this list is not exhaustive and will develop as the scope of Finance Shared Services evolves: Deputise for the Team Leader in their absence Deliver the management and integrity of the General Ledger Deliver a comprehensive range of financial accounting services to all business units Complete reconciliations and provide supporting evidence to designated customers within agreed timescales Provide back office support to the Treasury function Support the Team Leader to manage transition activities and take the lead where requested Support the Team Leader to manage improvement initiatives within the Financial Accounting Services team and take the lead where requested Build strong working relationships with the various FSS teams and wider stakeholders to seek opportunities to improve existing service levels Support or lead projects relating to new activities in Shared Services as required Carry out financial recharging in SAP as required The roles we are recruiting for will primarily complete activities identified in the Financial Accounting Services team. As Senior Analyst you may also be required to help and support other Finance Shared Services teams as and when required, and, as Finance Shared Services develops, the responsibilities of this role could grow to incorporate processes from other areas of the business. Skills Qualifications and Experience Demonstrate relevant and proven experience preferably within the energy and finance sectors Understanding of both industry and business processes Strong numerical, modelling and analytical skills Maintains a challenging and questioning attitude Educated to degree level in a finance discipline (or equivalent) Professional qualification (CA, ACA, CIMA or ACCA), or studying towards this, is an advantage Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel Knowledge of SAP system or equivalent Financial system The ability to implement and drive improvement initiatives, service levels and reporting Experience of working in a customer service environment - Senior Analyst will be able to use their experience to quickly identify the customer needs and provide an efficient and accurate solution.
