An exciting opportunity for an experienced senior credit professional to join one of the UK's leading Peer to Peer FinTech lenders who have huge ambitions for growth. Our Client's Credit Team incorporate the underwriting, credit management, problem lending and recovery functions. About the Role: We are currently on the lookout for a highly skilled, diligent, hands-on and proactive Head of Credit. The right candidate will work with and directly report to our Risk Director. This role is a great opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic and keen to progress their career in a fast-growing financial technology business. You will be joining the business at a very exciting time of rapid growth and product development, among hard-working teams of talented people who are passionate about what they do. You will be working closely with our Commercial, Risk, Compliance, Relationship Management, Legal and Product teams within the business and have to be comfortable in dealing with stakeholders at all levels of seniority. There are also lots of opportunities to get involved in developing and enhancing further the company's Risk function. The existing Credit team is currently a very efficient team of three, taking full responsibility for the underwriting of all new proposal, reporting on performance of the existing portfolio, management of problem lending cases and recoveries. As Head of Credit, you will be an integral and senior member of the Risk Team and be primarily responsible for the day to day management of the credit function. These responsibilities include the following: The credit integrity and performance of the lending book. Implementing creditor policy and lending guidelines. Ensuring we remain within our lending appetite. Create a centre of excellence and expertise with the necessary skills to support to business. Line management of the Credit Analysts / Managers within the credit team. Approval of proposals within own Delegated Lending Authority. Review proposals above Delegated Lending Authority and submit for approval to the Risk Director / Board Risk Committee with supporting paper. Lead deal forum meetings with Commercial Team. Provide ad-hoc credit advice and support in respect of any prospective proposition. Implementation of SLA's with ongoing monitoring to to ensure compliance. Taking appropriate action in respect of any for breaches. Lead continual improvement of the credit and recovery process to ensure customer / stakeholder expectations are exceeded at all times. Fraud detection, prevention and management within the business. Main point of contact with Cifas. Support improvements of the relationship management and business generation process to ensure customer / stakeholder expectations are exceeded at all times. Assist the Relationship Managers and Collection Manager with the management of individual borrowers, where requested or deemed appropriate. Reporting of the Problem Lending Portfolio to Risk Committee / Board. Undertake ad-hoc reviews of borrowers to ensure compliance with set Lending Metrics. Undertake regular reviews of company risk pricing to ensure we a provisioning appropriately for future losses. Day to day management of the Provision Fund (including reporting, management of assignments / recoveries and projecting future movement). Undertake regular economic / sector analysis to support enhancement to risk strategy / appetite. Undertake and own projects to improve risk process / procedures / appetite to drive future growth while protecting the Provision Fund. Ensure capacity planning is undertaken regularly and proactive steps taken to expand team as required. As Head of Credit, you will need: Customer / stakeholder focus. Commercially minded. Strong skills in risk assessment and control. Minimum 10 years proven experience in either Asset Based Lending or Commercial Banking. Or similar financial institutions. Sound understanding of fraud detection and combative measures. Line management experience. Proven skills and experience of problem lending and recovery of facilities in default. To be a holder of a substantial delegated lending authority in previous roles. Experience in working with Credit Reference Agencies, risk rating models & decisioning scorecards. A strong understanding of the Fintech environment and how it fits into the financial ecosystem. To challenge the Status Quo and bring a fresh perspective. Proven negotiation skills. Proven excellent communication skills. Experienced in Working Capital finance and secured fixed asset lending. Experience in working with Open Banking and the benefits it can provide.
