We are currently recruiting a Payroll Assistant for a wonderful established company in the heart of St Albans. It is a 12 month contract role with the possibility of it turning into a permanent post. This role will see you responsible for processing the monthly payroll for an allocated group of employees, in compliance with statutory regulations and company policy; ensuring accuracy, timely payment of salaries and the efficient resolution of all related queries. Responsibilities:
Day to day running of the payroll within agreed timelines Liaising with other departments to ensure the payroll data received is accurate Input/Import all verified monthly variable payroll data received, ensuring overtime is authorised Calculate pro rata payment for starters, leavers and all other permanent and temporary amendments input into the integrated HR/Payroll Pyramid System Run/check relevant payroll audit reports for sign off within the business in line with the payroll cut off dates Deal with day to day correspondence/queries received within payroll from all other departments and external agencies (HMRC, Court Orders, Pension providers etc) in a timely manner Processing of all monthly payments to 3rd party providers (to include HMRC, Court Orders, Pension providers) Compiling the monthly payroll journal report for Finance Comply with company policies and current PAYE legislation when carrying out payroll transactions Assist the Payroll Manager with ad hoc reports and projects Communicating with staff based at a large number of locations across the UK Control of salary cancellation, changes and recalls Ensuring that all statutory obligations are fulfilled Preparation of monthly statistics and reports Preparation of ad hoc reports as required What the client are looking for: Relevant payroll experience within a multi sited environment Up to date knowledge of recent legislation (PAYE ,NIC, SMP, RTI reporting, Pensions AE ) Computer literate, with at least intermediate experience of Microsoft Excel and Word Accuracy and attention to detail Professional handling of confidential information Ability to work to agreed deadlines and adapt to change in a dynamic environment Results focussed with the ability to work under pressure Strong oral and written communication skills and a good telephone manner Team player with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people and capable of building relationships Strong interpersonal skills as there is a need to work closely with other departments Ability to work on own initiative as part of a team What's in it for you?
