Fixed Asset Accountant Location - Northampton Division - Plumbing & Heating Grade - C6 We currently have an opportunity within our P&H Finance team as a Fixed Asset Accountant to join the team based in Northampton. Joining us as a Fixed Asset Accountant means playing an integral role as part of the Management Accounts team as well as taking full ownership of fixed asset accounting. You'll need to have a detailed understanding of capitalisation rules in line with appropriate accounting standards and be confident of challenging the business where accounting policies or standards are not being adhered to. Furthermore, you will have regular interaction with a number of internal departments including property, transport and I.T. and it is therefore imperative. Your key accountabilities include: Initial approval of capital spend requests in the PACE system to ensure appropriate accounting rules have been applied to split revex and capex amounts and appropriate cost centres and cost codes have been used Initial approval of capital invoices in the purchase ledger system (ODAS) ensuring that appropriate references have been applied to purchase orders in order to match them to the relevant capital projects Manual entry of invoices into fixed assets system (Assetware) Maintenance of fixed asset register including uploading of additions, disposals, asset transfer files and checking that assets are not duplicated Posting of General Ledger journals to reflect the above Reconciliation of vehicles to transport system (Tranman) Verification of disposal proceeds against Electronic Sales Invoice (ESI) report Review and posting of system generated depreciation charge ensuring that assets have been set up within the correct asset class and are therefore depreciating in line with Group Accounting policies Reconciliation of Assetware to General Ledger and PACE system Co-ordination and validation of physical asset verification checks Preparation of fixed asset lead schedules and reports Calculation of budgeted depreciation for existing assets and projected new vehicle assets Track capital expenditure against capital approval amounts What we're looking for You'll need to have some experience as part of a Management Accounts/Financial Accounts department and will ideally be studying towards an accountancy qualification. You'll need to be a strong communicator, and have the confidence of explaining financial policies to key stakeholders across the business. You'll be highly ambitious, and have a keenness to develop and learn new skills within a fast paced environment. What we can offer you?
