Your new organisation

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council are seeking an experienced, AAT qualified Accounting Technician to join the Financial Planning & Control department. Southend-on-Sea Borough Council employs around 1,700 staff, who work together to deliver a wide range of services that meet the needs of those who live, work and visit Southend-on-Sea.

Your new role

As the Accounting Technician, you will confidentially lead and support the existing Technical/Control team of five staff. You will contribute to the financial administration of Southend Borough Council to ensure operations are as economic and effective as possible to meet departmental and corporate targets. You will be responsible for the day to day liaison with the Council's bank and BACS provider and the management of the income management process. You will also be required to provide assistance with the preparation and presentation of the annual accounts.

What you'll need to succeed

An excellent accounting professional; you will already have experience of working in a finance environment and managing procedures in connection with the operation of computerised financial systems. Knowledge of the preparation of year-end accounts and Unit 4 Business World (Agresso) would be an advantage but not essential.
