The London College of Communication is seeking a Head of Finance on a permanent basis.

We very much want to hear from people with the skills to have an impact in a reputable and high-performing constituent college of the University of the Arts London, which has approximately 4,500 students on almost 50 courses in media, design and screen which will prepare students for careers in the creative industries.

Your new role 

This role reports to the Director of College Administration and is responsible for managing the College’s financial resources which will include leading and managing a professional finance, payroll and staff team which facilitates the requirements of the University. You will work with a broad range of stakeholders including the leadership team and a wide range of budget holders from across the College to deliver effective support for financial reporting, planning, budgeting and forecasting. Furthermore, you will be responsible for supporting budget managers to engage suitably with college and university processes to maintain robust controls and achieve financial success.

This role requires someone who is fully competent managing budget setting and monitoring, working closely with budget holders to ensure that they fully understand their budget variances. You will be responsible for developing appropriate key financial performance indicators (KPIs), monitoring performance against indicators as well as supporting, developing and maintaining financial planning and costing tools for the strategic development of the college.  Communication within the team will also be critical and the successful candidate should have the ability to spot potential issues and to address those, communicating with various stakeholders so that problems are dealt with quickly and effectively.

What you'll need to succeed 

You will need:

  • significant financial management experience in a large organisation.
  • experience and knowledge of financial management information systems.
  • experience of operating at both strategic and operational level.
  • communicating effectively orally and in writing adapting the message for a diverse audience in an inclusive and accessible way.
  • motivating and leading a team effectively, setting clear objectives to manage performance.
  • high level of analytical and problem-solving skills.

What you'll get in return 

In return you will receive a salary of £45,603 - £54,943 per annum, dependent on experience, with an excellent benefits package included.
