Our client - a well known Services business based in Glasgow - are looking for an interim Management Accounting Manager for 6 months.

Description

The role will be responsible for all elements of management and cost accounting. You will also deliver consistent financial planning/forecasting/analysis/reporting policies and frameworks, to ensure fit for purpose consolidated reporting.

Lead, manage and develop the management accounting function

  • Monitor team risks and opportunities
  • Develop ways to measure the success of your team including feedback from customers

  • Lead a multi-discipline, high-achieving function which facilitates excellent financial management
  • Deliver a robust costing/charging solution that tracks costs of delivering policies/products/services
  • Lead on spending review exercises
  • Manage the implications of change on the organisations finances
  • Deliver fit for purpose financial reporting and control frameworks for Operating/Continuous Improvements Budget
  • Lead on management accounting year-end process
  • Lead on delivery of all Corporate level reporting needs, including the monthly finance report to the Board
  • Identify and escalate risks, maintaining the Finance risk register

  • Support the Project Accounting Manager to deliver a fit for purpose Project Charging Methodology
  • Work with the Project Accounting Manager to deliver a single source of reporting to Executive Directors
  • Empower Executive Directors, Senior Management and budget holders to understand and own the finances for their areas, through policies/reporting/engagement/training
  • Work closely with the Commercial function to strengthen commercial compliance
  • Work closely with the HR function around joint analysis of headcount/resource expenditure, and support them with pay reporting
  • Manage effective relationships within/outside the organisation

  • Robust procedures/analysis to achieve ongoing integrity of expenditure/costs/budgets/forecasts
  • Develop ways to report on expenditure that demonstrate efficiency
  • Maintain and develop the Company ABM model
  • Transform financial planning into the delivery of a live Medium Term Financial Management process, which can deliver funding requirements in future years
  • Embed best practice financial assurance processes to ensure financial information supports effective/timely decision making
  • Clearly documented/communicated month end process with monitoring against target deliverables
  • Ensure Corporate reporting is in line with Consolidated Budgeting Guidance with the appropriate audit trail
  • Accurate reporting/explanation of variances to provide detailed financial position with identification of key risks

Profile

The successful candidate will have:

Demonstrable experience of establishing and developing management accounting approaches within a complex organisation/environment

  • Experience of successfully delivering change to financial approaches and systems, to create a fit for purpose accounting function

· Excellent communication skills to build relationships with a wide range of individuals to manage their expectations and achieve successful outcomes

  • Ability to influence the outputs of others to deliver a quality end product
  • Demonstrable experience of collaborative working
  • Experience of Line Management and associated development of teams
  • The ability to deliver fit for purpose financial reporting to preserve the financial integrity of the organisation
  • Clear experience in the application of Management Accounting and Appraisal techniques that have influenced business decisions
  • Ability to report on the financial position and risks effectively at the macro organisational level for summary reporting purposes
  • Qualified accountant with post qualification experience at a senior level
  • Ability to develop and deliver against tight deadlines
  • Proven excellent leadership, delegation and influencing skills and ability to present with clarity and passion
  • Experience in leveraging finance systems in service delivery.
