Job Details

The Royal Star & Garter Homes is a charity dedicated to the care of the military family. We provide pioneering care to disabled ex-Servicemen and women, and their partners, in our friendly, modern and comfortable Homes.

We have been always been at the forefront of social care for disabled veterans with many of our innovative approaches now widely adopted within mainstream services. 40,000 veterans will be living with dementia in 2020, and the need for our high quality care increases every year.

Our new strategy reaffirms our promise to deliver excellent nursing and dementia care, but also commits The RS&GH to an exciting programme of innovation by developing new models of care and raising standards for all veterans. Over the next five years we will invest significant sums to at least double the number of veterans we support, and also offer greater choice and flexibility to our beneficiaries.

The Governors take pride in guiding and leading the Charity, bringing a diverse portfolio of expertise to the Board.

The RS&GH are now in Surbiton, Solihull and High Wycombe, which means our present capacity to offer care to veterans and their spouses will be increased to 196, including award winning dementia care for 71 residents.

The RS&GH is now seeking a management accountant to join its Board of Governors.  You are likely to have a recognised professional accountancy qualification such as CIMA or ACCA and to have gained a breadth of experience through working in the commercial and/or charity sectors.  You will have experience of management accounting and of analysing information in order to advise on strategy, support business decision making and drive sustainable success. Knowledge of business IT systems and their implementation, risk management and negotiating commercial contracts would be welcomed. We appoint for a 3 year term (eligible for up to three further terms of 3 years).

The qualities required of a Governor are that they should be strategically minded, able to work as part of a professional team, and willing to challenge decisions and ideas in a constructive manner.    A commitment to attend a minimum of six meetings per year, and working with existing Governors towards agreed strategic goals to ensure the continued success of The RS&GH is essential. We welcome and actively encourage applicants from all backgrounds.

For an information pack, or to discuss this opportunity in more detail, please contact the Director of Human Resources, Siobhan Creighton on 020 8481 7670. To apply directly send your CV and a short covering letter to explain your suitability to: Siobhan.creighton@starandgarter.org

Registered Charity Number: 210119.  www.starandgarter.org

Closing date for applications 31 March 2019 with interviews completed by 31 May 2019.
